Alex Erlandson

I just discovered Alex Erlandson. He was a tree sculptor and made these amazing creations. He bent them and created patterns with them. They are so beautiful. Really. With them he opened up a horticultural attraction and called them 'the tree circus'.

so good...

This song is by Fever Ray - 'When I Grow Up'. I love it, love it, love it, and i love the video aswell!
I especially like the bit when she sings ...

I put my soul in what I do
Last night I drew a funny man
with dark eyes and a hanging tongue
It goes way bad, I never liked a sad look
From someone who wants to be loved by you

The Design Museum in London

First of all, I know I haven't posted anything up for like 6 months or so but I just have to get used to this whole blogging habit and now I been blogging quite a lot for my university projects, so Im kind of getting used to it.
So... a few weeks ago I went to the Design Museum to see the Brit Insurance Design Awards of the year 2010 which was being displayed in the Design Museum. They are in their third year and they showcase the most innovative and forward thinking designs from around the world.

This year's winner is the Folding Plug by Min-Kyu Choi, which I unfortunately don't have a picture of but you can see on the
designsoftheyear.com blog because it's so simple yet such a smart solution. Here are some pictures of my favourite projects.

First off is the Cafe of Equivalent$; which is an attempt to create transparency in an opaque world of money, making material the physical possibilites of using financial resources for need rather than profit.

I also really liked the Trillion Dollar Campaign; it is to do with Mugabe's regime having caused the total collapse of the economy, which basically has made paper too expensive for the Zimbabwean to use, so to make a statement a simple message has been printed on the worthless money, i think it's great and very effective.

And another really pretty project is the Typographic Tree which was made for a library and is a collection of people's favourite books, places and memories;
